Polyurethane foam roofing is a long-lasting and cost-effective solution for a new covering or an older one that is reaching the end of its warranty. It prevents heat transfer, is a waterproofing solution and a solar shield all in one. While it looks easy to use, only a professional with experience can apply it to manufacturer standards. And we are the area’s premier commercial roof company. We are factory-trained, locally owned and ready to save you money with quality roof coatings.
Sprayed polyurethane foam (SPF) roofing is made of two components which are held separately and mixed within the sprayer. These components are isocyanate and polyol. After being heated, they are pumped into the spay gun, combined, and applied to the substrate. The results are a liquid coating that forms a seamless and watertight barrier. It is the only truly seamless barrier available. After the SPF is applied, a top coat is required to preserve its integrity. This is generally a second sprayed liquid application of an elastomeric roof coating or it could be a rolled on material.
Once top coated, the resulting surface is totally seamless, having no points of possible water intrusion.
The material is also lightweight and flexible, filling the tightest space, making it the perfect choice for any shaped surface or one with multiple penetrations.
It may also be applied with a slight pitch to overcome drainage issues of a flat roof.
We are a polyurethane foam roofing contractor who has extensive knowledge about this product and what it can do. It has proven its worthiness for more than four decades and the technology keeps getting better. It is not unusual to see foam-coated coverings that have lasted well over 30 years. With proper installation and maintenance, an SPF project completed today performs well decades later.
A Great Insulator
Sprayed polyurethane foam roofing maintains an R value, per inch of thickness, of 7.4. That gives you higher thermal resistance than any other exterior barrier material. Energy savings of up to 40 percent are common during Florida’s long cooling season. The results are even better when it’s used along with a reflective topcoat. Both the installation and maintenance of a “cool” rooftop in Florida are tax deductible.
The payback time for new polyurethane foam roofing can be less than five years when you consider energy savings and incentives.
Waterproofing Properties of Polyurethane Foam Roofing
The number one cause of building deterioration is water intrusion. This can’t happen when a polyurethane foam roofing company does a proper application. The billions of closed cells that form on contact create both an air and water barrier. This doesn’t just keep rain out; it prevents condensation within the building. If the topcoat should become damaged from hail, abuse, excessive foot traffic, or any other reason, the building will stay dry indefinitely. In the rare case that flying debris penetrates it deeply, the damage will stay localized and is easily reparable. Water ponding can be prevented easily by applying the foam with a slight pitch. We have the experience and skill to do it right.
Double the Protection and the Benefits
When polyurethane foam roofing is paired with a quality elastomeric roof coating, the result is unequalled protection against driving rain, hurricane-force winds and even the spread of fire. You get a surface that has high insulation ratings and a surface temperature that can be 100 degrees lower than the usual commercial flat roof. These factors equal savings and tax incentives that can really help your bottom line. There is simply no other commercial roof system available that can perform as well as polyurethane foam roofing coupled with a Cool Roof Rating Council and Energy Star approved elastomeric roof coating.
